Choco Education

We love meeting students. I was inspired to start this business when I was 12 so I think school-aged kids can get a lot out of what we do: the role of small business in community, finding your passion and of course learning how chocolate is made!

SCHOOL GROUP VISIT OPTIONS

Mini-tours – A visit to our workshop is a great way for students to get inspired about ‘what is possible’  we have converted the granny flat at the back of our own home into a  Bean-to-Bar chocolate factory!  We do a short talk about how we make chocolate, the alternative sugars we use, the health benefits of good chocolate, Fairtrade and the chocolate industry in general.  We also taste chocolate of course!  This can be catered to the subject you are covering in class, from entrepreneurship to food training and safety etc.

Class visit – talk – Allison can come out to Clonakilty schools to do a short talk about how we make chocolate, the alternative sugars we use, the health benefits of good chocolate, Fairtrade and the chocolate industry in general.  She will bring along props, photos and we taste chocolate of course!

Class visit – hands on workshop – Allison can come out to schools in Co Cork and do 2 hour chocolate making workshops, we cover everything in the talk above while making chocolates, lollies and/or chocolate bars for the students to take home!

Free Visits during Fairtrade Fortnight
Each year during Fairtrade fortnight we visit local schools to give free talks about chocolate making & Fairtrade farming, as well as free open days to our chocolate workshop for mini-tours and tasting for both schools and the general public. Fairtrade fortnight runs at the end of February/start of March each year – please get in touch if you would like to learn about what we do, how we make chocolate and why Fairtrade is so important.
BOOKING & COST

If you part of a school or youth-group and would like to visit us or have a talk in your school outside of Fairtrade fortnight we charge a discounted schools fee of €4 per student for the talks listed above to cover costs and to be able to spend the time needed with your group, hands-on workshops are €10 per student,  fill out the contact form here to get in touch, be sure to include total number in your class or group.

Our studio is very small – only one room! – and can really only fit 8-12 visitors in at a time in a squeeze, so for larger groups better if we come to you.
